All international students who resided in the U.S. under an F or J visa for even one day during 2019 must file a 2019 Form 8843 report. Those who earned income during 2019 must also file a 2019 Form 1040NR tax return. The deadline to file 2019 federal income tax returns and 8843 reports is now Wednesday, July 15. The State of Georgia has also extended the state tax filing deadline to Wednesday, July 15. Filing deadlines may differ for various states depending on where you earned income. International students and alumni can access Sprintax software and information about taxes. Your school should provide you with a discount code to waive the tax return preparation fees.

"I filed early using TurboTax (or other tax service used by U.S. persons) and didn't know I should use Sprintax. What should I do now?"
TurboTax and most other tax services like it are intended only for U.S. persons, residents for tax purposes included. So, if you were a resident for tax purposes, then there is no problem. However, if you were a nonresident for tax purposes, then it's possible that you’ll need to file an amended tax return to correct/amend the one you filed incorrectly.
Sprintax can assist you with filing an amended tax return. Please note, however, that simply filing a new (correct) tax return through Sprintax is not the same as filing an amended tax return. A 1040X form will be necessary.
